What’s happening in Stanley and Surrounds

The Heart Behind Stanley Accommodation Group❤️
When you stay with Stanley Accommodation Group, you’re not just booking a room, you’re stepping into a story shaped by family, history, and a deep love for this little coastal town. What began as one woman’s vision in the 1990s has grown into a thriving, multi-property accommodation group run with passion, care, are a genuine commitment to guests and community.
The family’s connection to tourism started when their mother, Rose, established Rosebank Cottages in the early 90s alongside her husband Geoff. Years later, while her son, Clint, and wife Katinka, were busy running an eco-tour business in Launceston and Hobart, a simple conversation sparked an unexpected opportunity. During a visit home, they learned that the lease for what was then Dovecote Homestead & Stanley Motel was available. Originally, there was no intention to get involved. However, after the idea was mentioned over a family dinner, everything changed. Two months later, Rose and Geoff arrived with a proposal: a partnership to purchase the motel, with Clint and Katinka taking on management. And just like that, Stanley Accommodation Group began its journey.
After leasing ‘Dovecote’ for three years, the family purchased and renamed it Stanley Seaview Inn – a name that better reflects its stunning outlook across the coastline. Over the years, the group has expanded, introducing Horizon Deluxe Apartments in 2008, and Rose’s Villa in 2024, named in honour of the family’s beloved mother Rose, who passed in 2022.
One of the most charming pieces of Stanley Seaview Inn’s story, is that Clint and Katinka lived in what is now room 26 for 21 years, raising their two children, and incorporating rooms 10 and 11 as bedrooms. When the children moved out and the family purchased Hanlon Guest House, those rooms returned to guest use.
Being family-owned influences everything about how Stanley Accommodation Group operates. The family places great importance on ensuring employees feel valued, creating a warm and welcoming environment that passes on to guests and their experience.
After more than two decades, one thing remains especially meaningful: hearing guests rave about their stay. Those glowing comments never lose their impact. The team strives to ensure every stay exceeds expectations, from the pristine presentation of rooms to the property’s thoughtful touches. Creating a business where staff enjoy working, guests feel genuinely welcomed, and the local economy benefits has been the greatest reward for the owners.
The future holds exciting possibilities, including the potential for three additional Rose’s Villa sites, alongside the meticulous upkeep of a 40-year-old inn and its grounds. Stanley Accommodation Group is more than a business; it’s a family legacy. Built with heart, hard work and a deep connection to the local community, it continues to grow while remaining true to its roots.
Every guest who stays becomes a part of the story.
