POSITION VACANT – ASSISTANT MANAGER
We require a person who desires as career in tourism to join our multi award winning, friendly family owned and operated tourism and hospitality business.
The position may be offered as full time, part time or casual as we are willing to tailor arrangements to suit the chosen candidate’s preference. Flexibility is essential. The Assistant Manager is expected to perform a variety of roles at varying times of the day including on weekends. We do not operate a regular restaurant but do cater for tour coaches and group dinners as such the Assistant Manager is expected to work approximately 30 to 40 nights throughout the year.
Duties encompass reception, housekeeping, food and beverage attendance; as well as management of cleaning, food and beverage supplies, supervision and eventually training of staff, and general administrative duties.
The ability to communicate genuinely and effectively with all people is essential.
Remuneration is based on award conditions.

POSITION DESCRIPTION – ASSISTANT MANAGER
This position may be offered as either full time, part time or casual basis.
The Assistant Manager is responsible to Partners Clint and Katinka Walker, the Manager Codie Davis and will work alongside our existing Assistant Manager.
Essential skills & attributes
The Assistant Manager should be able to:
- Proudly represent the business, the region and the state
- Establish a welcoming rapport with guests and be comfortable in dealing with them in a variety of situations
- Effectively manage time and prioritise duties
- Supervise staff and delegate tasks
- Liaise between staff, management, suppliers and industry colleagues
- Show good team skills, being able lead colleagues, and participate within the team
- Work autonomously and unsupervised
- Competent in use of the Microsoft Office suite of software products
The Assistant Manager must be flexible and is expected to perform a variety of roles at varying times, including on weekends. Whilst this is a supervisory role, it is a very hands-on position. Duties include:
Management
- Stock management- ordering and receiving
- Filing
- Co-ordinating group reservations
- Supervising staff
- Training staff
Reception
- Checking guests in and out
- Daily balance
- Taking reservations and enquiries
- Emails and phone calls
- Provide knowledge on local attractions and respond to guest queries
Food and Beverage
We do not operate a restaurant as such but do cater meals for tour coaches approximately 40 nights of the year. The Assistant Manager is required to oversee and undertake various duties:
- Table and bar service
- Supervising other staff
- Ensuring guest satisfaction
- Liaising with the chef and back of house staff
Housekeeping
During quieter months and quieter times of the season and day, the Assistant Manager is to perform housekeeping duties. This include:
- Cleaning guest rooms and public areas
- Checking the work of other housekeepers
- Ensuring our high standards are always met
Remuneration
Pay and conditions are in accordance with the Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2010.
Employment would commence at “Front Office Grade 3”. It would be anticipated that skills and abilities would quickly develop and the pay grade be increased to “Front Office Supervisor”.
